White Star Down is the first book in a new series beginning in the early part of the Twentieth Century.
The book features a military detective, John Cook, who is both intelligent, and capable of looking after himself. But then he has to be, as he becomes embroiled in an early manifestation of the Irish Home Rule dispute and finds himself neatly in the middle of two warring factions, who are both intent on killing for their cause.
Marwick Head is the working title of the second book in the series as Cook tries to get to grips with the sinking of the armoured cruiser HMS Hampshire in 1916 and the significant international repercussions that followed, The Hampshire was en route to Russia and her famous passenger's death could have altered the course of World War I. There is also the small matter of a fortune in in gold rumoured to be in the wreck.
